Fat guys, chairs, and punk-ska cults

No, don’t let the name of this post fool you…I’m just putting up some more animation and a new picture that I colored using my Sanoma-5/6. I’m really trying to get my digital ink and paint skills up to par with some of my fellow students. Some of these guys draw with tablets like they were born with them fused to their hands. (gross) like
Shayla and Alex, both of whom are great talents and will go very far. I’m not saying that the school doesn’t house other great talents in our budding animation major…these two just happen to be in my Animation IV class. ( and I knew where to find them. Tanky, Donovan) |

I had to take a mid term in my Animation IV class this morning, and I was totally not prepared. I missed the last class and…and… WHO TH’ HELL GIVES A PAPER TEST IN AN ANIMATION CLASS!? I mean don’t get me wrong, our teacher is a pretty upstanding feller’, but he really dropped the monkey poo on this one. It should be a practical test in an animation class, I want you to see that I can apply the 12 principles of animation, not just recite them. (any doofus can do that! Hell, I did it; except for two!) The weakest of animators can slide by on a written test, but put them on a tablet or animation disk, and watch them sweat. (wow this is kinda’ dark…not really.) ENOUGH! So, on to something a bit more art like. I did this really cool pic of Cult 45 (the super awesome punk-ska band from the future)

I colored it with my tablet, I’m still totally trying to get the hang of it. I enjoy doing hair now, because I can get all the separate strands with simple strokes of the stylus. It’s fun. I eventually hope to get like an entire big book of artwork featuring them, then I’ll hit the people with the documentary about the rise and fall of the band. It’s tragic, but whatever. Tragedy and triumph make the world go around. So until I get around to the animated docu-film, you can listen to some of the old, old, OLD music by Cult 45

I’ll post new stuff when I stop being such a slacker…so…. don’t expect any updates along those lines any time soon. Speaking of virtual bands, Gorillaz creator and super-awesome animator,

He’s totally my hero. Seriously. He was one of the final nudges that pushed me definitively towards animation as my life’s art struggle. (hee, hee) He’s this total underground comic book artist who climbed his way up the mountain and planted his flag. He and Jhonen Vasquez. But enough about us… let’s talk about YOU. No, wait I’m sorry we’re out of time. That’ll be $350, cash I don’t take plastic.
