HUNGRY FOR MORE!….animation.
IT’S DONE! It’s finally done! My first ever animation is completed. I feel… well, ready to get into the next animation to be honest. I have to admit I had a little trouble with the final act. Since I was taking the story from an old comic book that I used to produce I didn’t foresee the problems that were to come. Even pre-production in the form of storyboards didn’t save me from my Achilles heel… TIMING. I’m horrible with timing. The pacing in my mind doesn’t translate well on to the screen. But despite this I’m still quite proud of my little cartoon. I began pre-production (character design, background design, object design, and storyboards) March 31 and here I am April 29 with a finished cartoon. YAY! I was learning all the way and this animation involves a lot of experimenting on my behalf. If I thought about it… I tried it. The things that I didn’t get a chance to try this time around, I’ll give a shot in my next project. Ultimately this reinforced my love for animation and has deepened my respect for the process and all those hard working people out there who bring us the wonderful works we so enjoy. I want to start a series based on another comic book I used to do. It’s a very long story, and has the potential to last me several years. Not that I’m complaining. It will be the ultimate showcase of the evolution of my animation skills. Oh, and by the by… I did send it off to ASIFA-Atlanta (which I’m a member of) for the “Roll Yer Own” animation festival. I hope they show it, I would like to see how people respond to it. Like you guys out there reading this. What do you think?
